Let's be upfront on this. It seems a bit like Magna Carta got a bit carried away with their progressive rock catalog, and decided to sign up (or put together) as many Dream Theater similar (rip-off) artists as they could.

The result is very very good. The opening track "With A Stare", features about a hundred things going on at one in the chorus, but it's actually really good. The intro is very "Awake". Unfortunately most of the CD just sounds like a total-rip off of Dream Theater. This isn't neccesarily a big problem, but in some cases it gets a bit out of hand! There are some sections that sound like they are almost lifted directly from "Images and Words".

Ok, so I'm being really unfair here. If there are any bands that can emulate DT's style, they deserve a ton of credit. AND, I am sure that given a bit more time this band would develop their own sound. However (as far as I know), for an unknown reason this is the only CD ever released by this band. Keyboardist Matt Guillory went on to record with James LaBrie, and drummer Jeremy Colson went on to record and tour with Steve Vai. The other guys seem to have disappeared for the moment.

Guitarist Patrick Reyes fits solidly into the Malmsteen vein, even to the extent of recording an instrumental track with acoustic and electric. It's quite good, but a little 80's sounding in comparison with the rest of the material.

To my cynical mind it seems like Magna Carta piled in the dough, the CD didn't sell that well, and so they dumped them. But who knows.
