Very cool, instrumental progressive rock from Dream Theater's keyboardist. This is the second solo album that he has released.

There are about 3000 idea on this album - and they're all very cool. Rudess must have a million musical ideas + 1, and he knows when to use them! If you really wanted to you could try comparing this album with Derek Sherinian's first solo album - but I wouldn't bother, I liked this one a lot more.

There's some great uptempo tracks on this one, some very cool keyboard sounds and parts, and some great solo's! Joe Satriani, Steve Morse, Greg Howe and Vinnie Moore all make a few appearances. Which is cool, because I've heard of Vinnie Moore quite a bit but never really heard him. Turns out I enjoyed his solo's the most! They rock! This could be because I've heard so much Satriani and Morse that I feel like I know what they're going to play anyway :)

So back to the album. There's a diverse range of musical styles to pick from here, but nothing too disjointed. It all fits together really nicely. There's some very funny moments with some hilarious sounds - I won't give anything away though. (Fortunately these don't get on your nerves over time.)

Rod Morgenstein drums on this album are very very good. Check him out if you haven't done so before. The monster of a track "Insectsamongus" is a killer and a favourite, and the funk of "Ra" is also great. Two thumbs up, this album rocks.
